Mining Leach Pads/Ponds

Heap leach pads, tailing impoundments, firewater ponds, and solution storage ponds have all been successfully lined with Watersaver geomembranes for over five decades. Many projects today demand a long design-life. The mining industry requires a liner have strong chemical resistance and have the ability to handle extreme loads over rough sub grades. Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) PVC has met these stringent criteria with over 40 years of actual field experience. PVC's characteristics include excellent multi-axial elongation, superior chemical resistance and is proven to have greater puncture resistance than polyethylene alternatives of greater thicknesses. Polypropylene (rPP) Reinforced Polypropylene (rPP) joins PVC as another cost effective alternative due to rPP's high chemical resistance and long-term UV stability. Most-commonly specified as a scrim-reinforced geomembrane, rPP makes your design achievable and cost-effective. Seaman's XR-5® XR-5 is one of the most chemically-inert geomembranes offered in the industry today. For solution holding ponds, XR-5® is the best option because of its UV resistance and wide-range chemical compatibility with mining leachate and other mineral processing solutions. |
