Watersaver is a privately held, third-generation family business that began its inception in 1953. W. “Jay” Slifer, Founder, finished his tour with the US Navy in the late 1940s and moved to Denver, CO to start his burlap bag business. Jay had the vision to save water in the early ‘50s by lining shallow irrigation ditches, subsequently started Watersaver Co, which spawned the industry as we know it today. His son, Bill, joined Watersaver in 1966 after finishing college; today, Bill is Chairman of the Board and remains involved in the overall direction of the company. Bill’s son, Stan, joined Watersaver in 1993 after working four years at Mattel Toys straight out of college. Stan has climbed the ranks and is now President overseeing all day-to-day operations involving all three divisions of the Company: Lining, Roofing and Environmental Products. The Slifer family owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to our many wonderful employees, past and present, that helped us build the foundation of Watersaver; a foundation that allows us to serve and benefit mankind.
